The logic of algorithmic trading, explained without a single line of code

Beginner · Market theory · no code

Theory 1: How the market really works

Intermediate level, no code: how a company's share count changes, how a listed stock is born and grows, why the price moves constantly, and who is on the other side of every trade.

Theory 2: How trading actually works

The real mechanics of executing an order: order types and their risks, the order book and the spread from the inside, what a market maker does and where hidden costs come from, and why liquidity changes constantly throughout the day.

Theory 3: Asset classes and how to read a company

The full map of asset classes (stocks, bonds, ETFs, commodities, currencies), the three financial statements that tell the real story of a company, the most widely used valuation multiples and their traps, and how to judge dividend policy with judgment.

Theory 4: Risk, return and diversification

How to measure risk with numbers (volatility and standard deviation), why combining weakly correlated assets reduces risk, how to compare risk-adjusted return with the Sharpe ratio, and the psychological biases that wreck entire portfolios.

Theory 5: What algorithmic trading really is

What genuinely changes when you automate a decision, the building blocks of any strategy (signal, entry, exit, position sizing), how to test a strategy against the past without falling into the traps of overfitting, and how to evaluate the result with judgment.

Theory 6: A survey of real strategies

The major families of algorithmic strategies explained conceptually: momentum and trend following, mean reversion and pairs trading, statistical arbitrage and market making, high-frequency trading, and the final bridge to the technical Python track.

The rest of the Academy

Eight more tracks, from Python to a real broker.

You start as a Junior Analyst. At the very top there is a Market Titan

The Academy is free to read in full, with no account. What follows is for anyone who also wants it to count: the exact rules the app applies, with not one invented reward.

Seven ranks, and XP is the only way up. Junior Analyst (where you start), Quantitative Trader (2,000), Portfolio Manager (5,000), Chief Risk Officer (10,000), Chief Investment Officer (15,000), Founding Partner (20,000) and Market Titan (25,000). You never have to do the arithmetic: your profile and the foot of every lesson show the bar and the exact points left to the next one.

XP comes only from quizzes. Every module ends with one: reading does not score, answering does. Half the answers right and the module already counts as done; from 70 % it also pays, 12 points per question scaled by your score, and up to double if the quiz carries review questions from earlier levels. Ten questions with no mistakes, 120 XP. Retaking only adds the improvement over what that module already gave you, so there is no farming the easy one; and a bad day takes nothing away.

Twelve badges, every one of them computed from your own record —none can be faked— and the ones in progress show how far you are ("37 of 50") instead of a padlock:

And five attributes —Theory, Execution, Risk, Psychology and Math—, the share of modules you have finished in each family. Nothing is granted: only what you study goes up, so the pentagon on your profile shows what you know and not what you clicked. Under it you get your strongest, your thinnest, and the track to go to for the second one.

Where it is stored. With no account, your progress stays in this browser: it is lost if you clear the site data, and it does not travel to another device. With a free account, completed modules, scores and XP are also stored on the server and follow you to any machine. The study days behind "Repeat Offender" and "Compound Interest" live in the browser only.
